Today we welcome…
We love a new supplier and a couple of weeks ago we welcomed Alternative Events to Mr & Mrs Unique. Alternative Events take a creative approach to marquee hire and have created a stunning collection of unique tents. Each is made from natural cotton canvas and sustainably sourced wood poles. Along with their creative styling skills and fab bar, they will totally make your wedding rock!
Today Jodie, the lady behind the scenes tells us a bit more about their business, what they offer and the dreams they have for the future…

Tell us a bit about your business…
After years of working on the UK festival circuit we have learned a few things about ourselves. We love working on outdoor events, we love traditional canvas tents, and we are very good at creating a fantastic atmosphere using all manner of décor and props.
For these reasons, we have created a completely unique range of alternative tents for those free spirited couples out there who are brave enough to embrace our UK climate and have an outdoor wedding!
What makes you Unique…
Our creative approach to our tents sets us apart from other marquee companies. Each tent is a complete one-off, there are no others like them available on the market. We work with our in house tent maker annually to add to our collection and keep creating structures using wood poles and natural canvas which are effective and beautiful.

Our mobile bar set up has developed in a similar fashion, by finding a craftsman to build us a beautiful reclaimed bar and sourcing quirky décor to finish off the set up.
Tells us what you love about your business…
It turns out we really love working on weddings! Every time we get an initial enquiry from a couple it is really exciting to find out what they are looking for and what we can help create for them.
Equally we get a great sense of satisfaction in seeing one of our tents going up in a new place, highlights so far include on a castle lawn, beach side locations and the edge of a cliff in Dorset!

People’s reaction to your business…
The response we get the most in relation to our tents is excitement and relief. Excitement that we can offer the overall style of wedding couples are after and relief that they have found the sort of traditional tent they were looking for which is also affordable. We regularly hear that people have spent a long time searching for the ‘right’ tent.
Future plans…
The mobile bar side of Alternative Events is a relatively new addition but is proving to be popular, so we will be developing our service to include a new range of new drinks such as foraged hedgerow cocktails!
For next year we will have a fleet of bell tents for hire so that couples can offer their guests glamping accommodation for the weekend. We are also excited to be partnering with some exciting new venues in South Wales, perfect for those unconventional couples out there, so watch this space!
