A free-spirited day…
I love this wedding and Im so happy that I get to share it with you today. The couple Tasha & Niall really had such a healthy frame of mind when planning their wedding day.
Firstly they didn’t want to go over budget so they worked in ideas to keep the costs down, such as keeping the cake simple, finding a fab dress on Etsy and doing some DIY decorations to the venue.
They also used their local pub for their wedding reception because they have been regulars for a while, loved the staff, the decor and the yummy food they serve.
This wedding proves that sometimes the easiest plan, is the best plan!
Here we speak to the couple and also their photographer Michael from My Beautiful Bride. Im very excited to say Michael is joining Mr & Mrs Unique shortly, so you will be seeing more of his work over the next few week! Enjoy!!
Name of the couple: Tasha and Niall
Wedding Venue: Stoke Newington Town Hall
Reception Venue: The Londesborough Pub, London N16
Michael- The Photographer…
Why you love this wedding…
Really lovely couple, very relaxed and open brief. It was as much a party as a wedding. I also loved Tasha’s beautiful 70’s dress and Niall’s very dapper suit.
What were the couple’s requirements…
Very open brief. Non generic photos. The couple were very keen to go for a wonder along Stoke Newington High Street, following the ceremony and to stop at their local Irish pub for a swift Guiness.
Favourite details of the day…
Niall’s pocket watch
Favourite moment of the day…
Photographing the couple in The ‘Auld Shillelagh’ Irish pub.
Tasha & Niall…
What was your inspiration for your wedding day…
We’ve lived in Stoke Newington for the past few years, and love the area, so it seemed to make sense to get married here. We’ve been regulars in the Londesborough for the while too. It’s a gorgeous pub with lovely, friendly staff and the food is always amazing! The town hall then seemed the obvious option, as it is within walking distance of the pub!
What was your main hopes and plan for the day…
We wanted the day to be as relaxed as possible. I was really keen to make sure that nothing looked too coordinated – it’s just not my style!
How did you save money…
My dress was vintage, 1970s, which I bought online from Etsy. It was a bargain of a find (£80) and only needed very slight alterations to fit.
We got a florist to do the bouquets, but my best friend and I did all the flowers for the reception ourselves.
We also brought a simple Victoria Sponge from “Sponge”. We didn’t want to spend a huge amount of money on a cake most people would be too drunk to enjoy! So, we kept it simple, but displayed the cakes on vintage cake stands brought from eBay to make them look a bit more special.
What was it like working with your photographer…
We chose Michael because of his relaxed style of photography, and the effort he made to get to know us and our venues. He was the perfect choice; not only did he take beautiful photos, but he was a delight to work with. Neither Niall nor I enjoy having our photo taken and we were both dreading it, but he made it so relaxing and enjoyable!
Advice to any couples about to get married…
Don’t focus on making everything perfect! Think instead about what will enable you and your husband-to-be to have fun on the day. We planned the day that was right for us, not what we were “supposed” to do; the result was a day that everyone enjoyed. Oh, and make the wedding fit the budget, not the other way around!
Thank you so much for sharing your day with us Tasha & Niall! A massive thank you to Michael from My Beautiful Bride for all the photos. To find out more about his work visit his website here
