Coastline, Muted Tones & Maritime Hues…
This grunge, mermaid inspired bridal shoot was organised by Something Borrowed Mag and took place at the stunningly beautiful Lulworth Cove in Dorset. The idea behind the shoot was Hans Christian Anderson’s ‘The Little Mermaid’, but they the added an unkempt feel to the styling, branching away from the usual pristine and perfect wedding day look.
Over to Eleanor from Something Borrowed to tell us more about the shoot…
Something Borrowed…
We wanted to use the original Little Mermaid story – I had a copy of the story will fantastic illustrations that were very far from Disney’s interpretation (tried to find my book, mum had given it to a charity shop, then discovered it’s worth about £300 now. Weep)
We were mindful to maintain a bridal link, however, we wanted to get away from neat and tidy nautical and go for something a little edgier. It’s a tough balance to make!
The florist, Lauren from Concept Flowers, is incredible with her vision. Her creations incorporated starfish and seashells.
Any Styling Tips…
The natural environment was important as inspiration; as a seaside town we see so many pretty beach themes, but this took cues from what was around us – from the colours we dyed the models (Sian and Maddie) hair, to the bouquets.
Thank you …
