Tell us a bit about business…
Pennard House has been in the same family since it was built in 17th Century. It is a beautiful Grade II listed Manor House but it is first and foremost a family home which has always welcomed friends and family and has hosted family and friends weddings for years.
About 2 years ago, we wanted to open the doors of Pennard House more broadly so that others could share in the experience of getting married here. We wanted our guests to enjoy the traditional English country manor house experience, but also to have something more unique so we completed the renovation of the Coach House!
We modernised the entire space into an all weather, all purpose event space while also maintaining oodles of character. We believe that our space is unique for couples as they have the more traditional beauty of a country manor house with an incredibly unique space for the party in the Coach House.
What makes you Unique…
Combination of the traditional English Country Manor house with the unique Coach House party space.
The gardens are quite magical. There is a spring fed Victorian swimming pool where couples often have a post wedding BBQ as well as a rose garden for those romantic pics. We are also in an Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty surrounded by meadows, woodlands and cider orchards.
We include the Blue Room for the bridal couple in our venue hire so that there is somewhere for the bride to get ready and for the couple to spend their first night as a married couple. The couple always chooses who stays in the house and if they do not fill the rooms, we leave them empty as we only do exclusive use.
For the more adventurous, there are tipis in the garden for guests to experience a night under the stars!
We welcome anything creative – well we are less than a mile from the Glastonbury festival site! And as well as hosting lots of wonderful weddings, we also run yoga weekends, creative writing, painting and song writing courses.
Flexibility is very important for us so catering is tailor made to suit each couples tastes. No set menus here! As for any other suppliers – it’s up to the bride and groom.
We want couples to feel relaxed over the wedding so we don’t do consecutive weddings so our couples can arrive the evening before to decorate and leave the day after the wedding so that they have a relaxed wedding experience.
The couples will have everything in one place for the entire day, weekend, week!
Finally, I think a striking part of Pennard House is that we are a family home so there are dogs, a cat and family coming and going and this really appeals to our couples who are looking for a relaxed, family environment where there are no set procedures and where all our couples are encouraged to design and create the day they wish for so we’ve had everything from cricket matches, to archery to swimming after the wedding breakfast.
Although we provide a relaxed environment, our couples also know that their wedding will be looked after by an experienced and professional family and team, so that they can really sit back and enjoy their wedding day.

It seems positive! Couples seem to love having their wedding in a family environment, a home from home setting. They really enjoy the relaxed setup in beautiful surroundings.
Future plans…
Keep building and developing the space for couples. Next year we hope to have an outdoor civil ceremony space licenced as well as a few new bedrooms.
