A Non-Traditional Affair…
Today we share with you the rather sweet photos of Richmal and Chris’ wedding which was held at Manchester Town Hall. The couple really wanted to have an intimate day, keeping their guest list small and inviting only their nearest and dearest (plus their rather cool dog!).
I’m completely loving the Erica Stacey bespoke dress and also the hints of orange throughout the day; from the lining in the suits to the accessories the bridesmaids wore!
They were also the first couple to ever get married at the Craft Centre in Manchester, after falling in love with the building! Thank you so much to Richmal & Chris for sharing their day with us, plus Cassandra Lane Photography (our very own Mr & Mrs Unique supplier,) for the photos.
Over to them to tell us more about the day…

Why you love this wedding…
I loved being a part of Richmal & Chris’ wedding as they had a small guest list, which gave their day an intimate atmosphere. It was a really relaxed day that was full of fun and Richmal & Chris brought their creative flair to the proceedings by choosing a really unusual colour palette of orange & grey.
What were the couple’s requirements…
Richmal & Chris wanted creative and relaxed photography coverage without formal group photos.
Favourite details of the day…
I loved the custom made headpieces Richmal & her bridesmaids wore in their hair. And the orange lining of Chris’ suit.
Favourite moment of the day…
We took a walk to Castlefield in Manchester & picked up Richmal & Chris’ dog on the way. She was very excited to see them!

Tell us how you met and got engaged…
We met via mutual friends at university. We got engaged after eating a bacon sandwich in our kitchen!
How would you describe your wedding theme…
Intimate, bespoke, party!
What was your main hopes and plan for the day…
To enjoy ourselves with our friends and family. An intimate ceremony followed by a proper party was the general plan!
What was your favourite part of the day…
The ceremony and drinks reception at the town hall, it was an intimate ceremony with only 20 guests and celebrating with them immediately after was fantastic.
How was your day unique…
We tried to keep the whole day relaxed and fairly non-traditional. It was important to us that it was clear we were entering into the marriage as equals, so we walked in together and I wasn’t given away – I’m not a possession to be gifted!
The evening reception was at the Craft Centre – which had never hosted a wedding reception before. We wanted to have the party in an interesting building in Manchester City centre and the Craft Centre was perfect. We both wore bespoke outfits – my wedding dress was grey and Chris’ suit lining was bright orange.
What was your budget…
The final figure was about £9,000, and we were really lucky that our parents wanted to help us out with the cost.
What was your biggest expense…
Chris’ suit and my dress were the two single biggest costs.
How did you save money…
We made a decision early on to get as much as possible made in Manchester. I don’t know if it saved us money but we wanted to spend the money we had with local suppliers and makers.
What was it like working with your photographer…
Cassandra was great! She mingled with the guests and made everyone very relaxed. She was full of good ideas for interesting shots that really suited us.
Advice to any couples about to get married…
Be confident in your decisions and do things you want to do. Don’t let other people’s expectations of what your wedding should be get in the way of what you want.
