Supporting New Bridal Designers…
Here at Mr & Mrs Unique we love established wedding businesses, but we also love to support new, upcoming talent. This includes new bridal designer Lorie x who recently joined our directory.
Laura, the lady behind all the designs at Lorie x has recently launched her first ever collection of bridal wear and its simply beautiful! With clever use of print, it introduces colour in subtle way and add a new dimension to the dresses! We are massive fans of Laura’s work and we look forward to seeing her business grow from strength to strength!
Today we ask Laura a few questions about her business, what makes her different and why you should check out her beautiful dresses…
Laura…
Tell us a bit about your business…
Lorie x is a collection of bespoke bridal wear which is designed and created in East London. It is inspired by the past, romanticism, great love stories and the beauty around us; pieces feature hand inked and photographic prints and are made from the finest silks, laces and jacquards. The collection is feminine and fluid, and the pieces unique and romantic.
It started life as a university project – my graduation collection – a few years ago. I believed that there was a gap in the bridal market for garments which were alternative yet not in the stereotypical ‘alternative’ way. I still wanted them to have traditional references (laces, covered buttons), to be feminine and romantic; but not to be ivory or meringues. I wanted to introduce some colour – but in a delicate way, and have always loved to draw; so the idea of incorporating print came into place and this grew with the notion that each bride could incorporate their own bespoke print into an already bespoke look, for their special day.
After working in the fashion industry for a few years, the idea never truly left my mind and so I revisited it recently and grew the collection to include more dresses and also separates.
What makes you Unique…
Print is not overly used in bridalwear currently, and it is something which Lorie x uses in a subtle way, through either hand drawings or photographs to add texture and colour to garments.
Digital print translates beautifully to silk fabrics and gives brides the opportunity to develop and explore their own ideas with the final outcome being completely personal and unique to them.
Tells us what you love about your business…
I love working on one-off, bespoke pieces which I believe are beautiful and have someone’s personality tied up within them.
People’s reaction to your business…
Since the launch of the collection it has been described as beautiful and refreshing – which is lovely to hear!
Future plans…
To continue to work on what I am passionate about, and to make many more brides happy, fingers crossed!
We we LOVE it! If you want to check out further details of Lorie x, you can see their directory profile here, or you can visit their website here.
